Onsite advanced imaging at SASH includes high quality Doppler ultrasonography, digital radiography and CT (computed tomography).
Ultrasound is important for the assessment of abdominal organs and the heart (echocardiography). Ultrasound provides a rapid non-invasive way of investigation and best results are obtained when experienced veterinarians use good equipment. The medicine staff have a strong interest in heart disease and our ultrasound facilities include advanced colour flow Doppler technology that allows accurate assessment of your pets heart function.
Our radiology facilities are digital and this allows us to obtain high quality images rapidly. Digital radiography reduces radiation exposure to your pet and staff and eliminates problems that can occur with traditional film processing.
CT scanning facilities are available in house with a brand new Philips 6-slice machine. CT is useful for investigating diseases of the skull or nose and is an extremely sensitive method of looking for cancer and the spread of cancer. Where the spinal cord or brain is involved MRI scanning may be more appropriate. With advanced imaging techniques such as CT and MRI we often work as a team with human and veterinary radiologists to give you the most accurate interpretation of these scans possible

At SASH, we use an off-site human facility for MRI scanning giving us the highest quality results.
